Notes from the wax workshop

Cutting standard beeswax sheets along the sheet's short width produces strips that give a candle the ideal diameter for burning fully and leaving no outer sheath.

Cutting up four sheets in this manner, along the short width, will provide enough strips to make six candles:

  • Two 6" candles with even 3" color accent panels
  • Two 5" candles with one 3" color accent panel and one 2" color accent panel
  • Two 4" candles with even 2" color accent panels

This appears to be a good use of the beeswax sheet. There is very little wasted material.

This is the cutting pattern for the four sheets:

  • Sheet 1 (Use strips for base strip): 6", 5", 4"
  • Sheet 2 (Use strips for base strip): 6", 5", 4"
  • Sheet 3 (Use strips for color accent panels): 3", 3", 3", 2", 2", 2"
  • Sheet 4 (Use strips for color accent panels): 3", 3", 3", 2", 2", 2"
